It’s been a hot minute since I’ve shared what’s going on in my life, which is inextricably linked with what’s going on at blue door. And, that’s ok. There is so much power in silence. In contemplation. In sitting in the now.
Everyone who knows me, knows that I am an extrovert. I love people and I love sharing with each and every person who comes into my life. Sometimes I believe I created blue door just so that I could have a larger social circle 🙂 But, all of this sharing comes with its own drawbacks. One being that I need to give myself time to recharge. I do this through taking yoga classes, taking “quiet” breaks, meditating, being present.
As many of you know, we have started up our teacher training for 2022 and we were just having a conversation about this very subject on Saturday. Barbra Brady said that living in this world is energy expending. Just the very acts of being aware of your surroundings, blinking, speaking—these all sap us of energy or prana. You only have so much prana to give. Once you hit empty, you’re empty; you must replenish or refill your tank. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and I have more thoughts on the subject, but I’ll share those in the next missive. I’ll be sharing my thoughts on prana expenditure and disease-state. This has been banging around in my head for a while now.
But for this month—the month of love—I invite, no, challenge you to love yourself more than you love others. Harness your energy. Save some for yourself. Instead of feeling depleted at the end of the day and falling into bed completely drained, what if you could feel “just right?” What if the amount of prana you gave out was the same amount of prana you saved for yourself so that you didn’t end up with a deficit at the end of the day? What would that feel like? What could you accomplish? Who would you become?
